Fun ideas for winter dates

Sick of the winter? Tired of the outside and being cold? Yet, you still may want to be sociable and you still want to go on dates, whether the date is with your wife of ten years or new girlfriend of five days.

Well, here are some fun ideas for winter dates.

First, lets start with the warm indoor ideas.

1. Museums.

You don't have to stick with the ordinary art museums, unless this is what you like. You could look into your local history and see if their are any historic cabins, homes, etc in your area.

Check your local newspaper for any special events that they may be planning.

You may even want to check for traveling museums such as cars on display, unique types of arts or craft projects or even animals.

2. High school or community musicals or plays

Going to these are helping the school raise money. Plus, they sometimes can be fun (especially if you know some of the singers or actors). Again, check your local newspapers for announcements of these.

3. A Fun game of bowling

When was the last time you went bowling? It is an inside event and if your date is game, can be a lot of fun.

4. An arcade.

No, fighting aliens is not just for kids. There are some really fun and cool arcades, today. They may even be more high tech than some of us remember. Just be sure to bring plenty of quarters.

5. Window Shopping

What you never thought shopping could be a date?

Do you live near an inside mall? Does this mall have lots of fun window displays? You could stroll from window, window committing on the displays. Then you could stop at the one of many concession stands, grab a bite to eat, people watch and spend some fun time together.

6. An afternoon movie

Skip those cold nights out in the snow and make your movie night a movie afternoon. Another plus, the theatre may not be as crowded (which means less annoying talkers, crying babies and less chance of getting caught if you decided for a few quick kisses in between those slow scenes).

7. Plan a fun game night inside

You can play board games, cards, electronic games such as Playstaion, Wii, etc. Just remember not to become to competitive. It isn't who wins that counts. What counts is the amount of fun both of you are having.

8. Rent a DVD and turn your own living room into a theatre.

Turn up the heat or light the fireplace. Pop some popcorn, drink some cocoa and then watch your favorite movie in the privacy of your own home, possibly in the arm's of your special someone.

9. Go to a basketball game or a hockey game

Just dress warm and buy some hot chocolate at the event (hopefully you both will be cheering for the same team).

10. Go to your local gym or YMCA and see if you swim for the day (heated of course)

Call ahead and see if you can a day pass, unless you are all ready a member.

Finally, be brave and face the outside. Yes, there are lots of outside activities you can do, even when the weather is cold, especially if there is a fresh layer of snow outside. Just dress warm (remember those hats and gloves).

11. Arrange a carriage ride

What woman doesn't want to pretend that she is heroine in a movie at least once in her life?

12. Have a snow ball fight.

Just don't play to rough and remember to laugh.

13. Build a snowman together.

Bring extra mittens and a hat for him.

14. Try your hand at ice skating

Only if there is a safe solid pond or better yet a rink. If you are new to skating, just go slow and easy.

15. Go sking or rent snowmobiles.

Of course, this is only if your budget can afford it.

16. Go sledding

This is a cheap form of outside entertainment. All you need is an inexpensive sled, some snow and a nice hill.

Finally, the best date of all, may be staying in bed together, late on a cold winter morning. Eating breakfast in bed, reading the newspaper and just enjoying each other and this special time you have.

See winter doesn't have to be all bad. If we learn, how to make the best of it.
